Visit local communities engaged in a sustainable form of tourism and help them financially to realize their projects.
During our trip, we want to visit some local communities to understand how they try to develop a form of tourism allowing tourists to discover their culture while protecting their environment and the community integrity on a long term vision.
Visit the communities, but also help them financially to achieve their projects. We’ll share our visits through articles on our blog, ideally also a short video reportage of one minute, depending on local technical feasibility. The projects will have to be oriented on the preservation of their culture and their physical environment. The visits will be prepared in relation with the NGO (Travolution.org), in which a friend of us is working.
The meeting with Juan
In September 2011, we met Juan during a bus trip to San Pedro de Atacama, in Northern Chile. Juan used to be a local guide some years ago. Now he’s working for (Travolution.org), an NGO active in the development of sustainable tourism projects. He was in Atacama to meet people in different villages with the idea of organizing a National Meeting on Community tourism (www.turismocomunitario.cl).
The five days we spent with him and two friends of his brought us across wonderful villages in the region. At the end, we spent one day in Ayquina, where an important religious festival was taking place.

We hope that trough the projects we will be presenting on our blog, we’ll be able to motivate people following our adventure to help us supporting financially the visited communities. The collected founds will be distributed to the different projects depending on communities’ requests. A final report will be established at the end of the adventure to present the financed projects.
